Galanthus elwesii 'Green Brush'
Galanthus elwesii 'Green Brush' is an exceptionally good snowdrop with green tips. Many varieties only have a very pale marking color with weak lines, but this variety is different. I must say that the variety name is spot on.
Furthermore, this plant has very dark, green inner petals, which makes it even more attractive.
The variety was discovered by Gerard Oud, a well-known Dutch snowdrop nurseryman, and then it found its way to Avon Bulbs in England.
Over the whole process of propagating this variety, the original plant was contaminated with another snowdrop without green marks. But the original is very well recognizable because of its green tips, which are always clearly visible. However, in the case of young or freshly planted specimens, the marks may be slightly smaller or paler than normal. But this changes as soon as the plant is established.
