The variety comes from the garden of the German snowdrop expert Hagen Engelmann from Cottbus in the east of Germany. The so-called \"color changers\" are able to change the initially greenish color of the inner petals into a yellow-orange with advancing age.<br \/>Galanthus 'Schorbuser Lampion' is larger than 'Schorbuser Irrlicht' and 'Ilse Bilse'. The flowers have a rounded appearance, as the outer petals curve like a trowel. In contrast to 'Schorbuser Lampion', the upper and lower markings on the inner petals never touch.<br \/>The ovary is oval and the lower edge of the inner petals is clearly turned outwards, which could indicate Galanthus gracilis in its parentage.
