These snowdrops were all collected in Northumberland, a county in northeast England on the border with Scotland. As early as the late 19th century, yellow-flowered Galanthus nivalis were collected near Whittingham. At that time, cultivar names such as 'Flavescens' and 'Lutescens' were used.
