But what makes this snowdrop special is its early flowering time. In fact, it is one of the earliest autumn-flowering snowdrops and is considered by many Galantophiles to be one of the best Hiemalis elwesii.<br \/>The variety is known since 1973 and comes from an old manor in Naughton, Suffolk, Oliver Wyatts last residence. That\u00b4s where a particularly early flowering snowdrop was found, together with a name tag, on which \"Barnes\" was written. As far as is known, Wyatt was given an early-flowering snowdrop by an E. P. Barnes, a surgeon from Northampton. It was later named \"Earliest of All\" by Wyatt. This variety name is still common today. Therefore it is to be assumed that the \u2018Barnes\u2019 variety also came from that surgeon and that the two varieties originally entered the collection together.\nThe bulbs most likely came from the very same colony and were given to E. P.
