He is a snowdrop collector and a coauthor of the book \"For Galanthophiles\" published in 2011.<br \/>Occasionally the spelling \u2018Cryptonite\u2019 can be encountered, but this name is not correct according to Mr. Heidger. The name Kryptonite is in fact associated with the comic hero Superman. It is a green, crystalline material that brings Superman to his knees. The explanation of the naming is described by Mr. Heidger as follows:<br \/>\"When you see this snowdrop, you feel like Superman: you become powerless\"<br \/>Galanthus \u2018Kryptonite\u2019 is a virescent Galanthus elwesii var. monostictus cultivar. These varieties of the Turkish snowdrop have a very early flowering season. In the case of \u2018Kryptonite\u2019, the flowering season usually starts in November or December.
