Among the giant snowdrops (Galanthus elwesii) it is probably the biggest cultivar ever found. From its dimensions in leaf length and bulb size one could confuse it with a tulip. Particularly strong specimens reach up to 60cm total height. A record and definitely an eye-catcher in every garden. Despite its sheer size, the individual plant multiplies relatively slowly over side bulbs.<br \/>This snowdrop was discovered by the couple David and Anke Way in their old rectroy garden in Southover, Hunton near Maidstone, Kent, in the southeast of England. They assume that this plant was originally imported into England during the Victorian period (1837-1901) and then fell into oblivion.
