'Veronica Cross'

Galanthus hybr. ‘Veronica Cross’

The snowdrop hybrid Galanthus 'Veronica Cross' bears the name of one of the most famous snowdrop breeders in the UK. The variety comes - like so many other great cultivars - from the garden Lower Hopton Farm, where Veronica Cross pursued her great passion until her death in 2019. In addition to snowdrops, Veronica Cross was also known for her great peonies. Galanthus 'Veronica Cross' is a seedling of a cross between Galanthus plicatus 'Trym' and Galanthus gracilis. The latter snowdrop species is responsible for the slightly lower overall height compared to other representatives from the Trym family. It is characterized by a good reproduction rate and a particularly long flowering period. The flowers appear in large numbers, and the second flower is usually somewhat smaller than the first one.
