'Painter's Palette'
Galanthus reginae-olgae ‘Painter's Palette’
This beautifully shaped snowdrop has broad petals with well-defined green lines that extend from the tip to the centre of the petals. It is the result of a collaboration between Yanik Neff from Stein AR in Switzerland and Edgar Wills from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. The variety belongs to the Painter's series, a group of Galanthus reginae-olgae with particularly attractive green markings on the outer petals and good vigour.
Galanthus reginae-olgae 'Painter's Palette' is in the middle of the range of snowdrops that flower in late autumn and early winter. All members of the Painter's group originate from seed from the island of Corfu. These plants are known for particularly large markings on the inner petals and a later flowering period than is the case with plants from the Peloponnese peninsula, for example. The main flowering period is in November.
