'Lucy'
Galanthus plicatus ‘Lucy’
This snowdrop variety comes - like very many other outstanding cultivars - from the garden of Richard Bashford and Valerie Bexley. The variety can form impressive tuffs that flower abundantly and give an excellent overall appearance.
Galanthus 'Lucy' is a so-called 'Trymtype', i.e. a snowdrop that goes back to the variety Galanthus plicatus 'Trym'. In the meantime the progeny of 'Trym' has grown to an unmanageable number because the flower characteristics are passed on so reliably. Many of these seedlings arose (and still arise) spontaneously in the gardens and parks of Britain, with the bees taking over the role of breeder.
