'Painter's Canvas'

Galanthus reginae-olgae ‘Painter's Canvas’

Galanthus ‘Painter's Canvas’ was created in 2024 from a breeding collaboration between Yanik Neff from Stein AR in Switzerland and Edgar Wills from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Because there are only a few really good cultivars of the Queen Olga snowdrop, the two breeders set themselves the task of making special plants accessible to a wider public. The Painter's series brings together plants with green markings that have proven to be worthy of cultivation in terms of growth and flower characteristics.

Galanthus ‘Painter's Canvas’ is a semi-virescent snowdrop, i.e. a variety with green outer petals but no completely green inner markings. Only a faint upper marking on the inner petals is recognisable, which is very rare in this species. The flower shape is very elegant in appearance due to the graceful and pointed outer petals. The variety has its genetic origin on the island of Corfu in Greece.
