'Ray Cobb'

Galanthus nivalis ‘Ray Cobb’

Galanthus 'Ray Cobb' is a yellow flowering snowdrop that belongs to the Sandersii group. These snowdrops were all collected in Northumberland, a county in northeast England on the border with Scotland. As early as the late 19th century, yellow-flowered Galanthus nivalis were collected near Whittingham. At that time, cultivar names such as 'Flavescens' and 'Lutescens' were used. But nowadays, due to the abundance of yellow-flowered snowdrops from Northumberland, we only speak of Galanthus nivalis 'Sandersii' or the Sandersii group. The man after whom this cultivar is named was a renowned snowdrop collector from Nottinghamshire, a county in central England. Galanthus 'Ray Cobb' is an easy variety that multiplies reliably.
