'Dryad Gold Star'

Galanthus x valentinei ‘Dryad Gold Star’

This yellow snowdrop hybrid comes from the garden of Anne Wright in Tockwith, a village in North Yorkshire in England. The well-known daffodil breeder and owner of Dryad Nursery started growing snowdrops in 2006. She immediately succeeded in creating an excellent cross that produced seedlings of exceptional quality. She crossed Galanthus plicatus ‘Wendy’s Gold’ with a yellow Galanthus nivalis from the Sandersii group. In 2010, the first seedlings from this cross flowerd and almost all of them had yellow flowers, which is by no means a matter of course. Anne summarized the offspring in the so-called Dryad Gold Group. She knew that these plants would set new standards. A total of eight seedlings were selected and got a name. The variety name of all members of this group begins with "Dryad Gold".
Galanthus ‘Dryad Gold Star’ is a small snowdrop with relatively large flowers. The yellow color develops most intensively outdoors.
The plant multiplies reliably via side bulbs and is therefore quite easy to grow.
