'Emerald Isle'
Galanthus ikariae 'Emerald Isle'
Galanthus ‘Emerald Isle’ was found in 1986 by Megan Morris on neglected property in Drew's Court, Limerick, Ireland, and was named by Dr. C. Nelson. It belongs to the group of virescent snowdrops because the inner petals are completely green and the outer petals also show a green hue.
There are not many varieties of Galanthus ikariae in circulation so far, which makes this snowdrop an exclusive rarity.
Galanthus 'Emerald Isle' passes the flower characteristics on to the offspring quite reliably, which is why seedlings of the original plant are sometimes sold as 'Emerald Isle'.
An attractive snowdrop that grows rather slowly.
