'Greek Skirt'

Galanthus reginae-olgae ‘Greek Skirt’

This snowdrop is the result of a collaboration between Yanik Neff from Stein AR in Switzerland and Edgar Wills from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. They have been working intensively on the cultivation of Galanthus reginae-olgae for several years.

Galanthus reginae-olgae 'Greek Skirt' is an early-flowering snowdrop with poculiform or semi-poculiform flowers. The inner petals often show the typical notches on the lower petal edges of semi-poculiform flowers. In some years, fine green dots may also appear, usually on the largest flowers in a group. The flowers of this variety appear at the beginning of the snowdrop season in late autumn, which is due to the genetic relationship to plants from the Taygetos Mountains on the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece.
