'Lady Putman'
Galanthus nivalis ‘Lady Putman’
Galanthus 'Lady Putman' is an attractive snowdrop named and circulated by Dutch snowdrop expert Jan Wierenga from Loppersum NL. It was offered at the Schneeglöckchentage in Nettetal in northern Germany in 2015 for 200 euros. Although the price has fallen somewhat since then, it is still an expensive variety. Among snowdrop collectors the flower shape is called "pterugiform" or "inverse poculiform" (i-poc), meaning that all six petals are shaped and marked like the inner petals. In 'Lady Putman', this shape is absolutely perfect. The flowers show an attractive light green colour, making it quite easy to distinguish from similar varieties such as 'Pumpot'. Galanthus 'Lady Putman' is a vigorous, small snowdrop that should not be missing in any collection.
