‘Orange Star’

Galanthus nivalis ‘Orange Star’

This snowdrop is very special in appearance because it has some unique flower characteristics: On the one hand it has more than just three outer petals, on the other hand there are no inner petals or they are partially fused with the stamens. Oftentimes the flowers are not "perfect" because here and there you will find mixed forms of inner and outer petals (recognizable by the green color on the inside of the outer petals). The already described fusion of the petal and stamen, which manifests itself in the fact that the thin thread connecting the anther with the rest of the flower called filament has transformed into a white, shield-like band, gives the flower kind of a wild apprearence.
Galanthus ‘Orange Star’ comes from the collection of Oliver Vico and Ruben Billiet from Belgium and was first presented to the public in 2019.
