'Painter's Brush'
Galanthus reginae-olgae ‘Painter's Brush’
This snowdrop variety stands out from the crowd with its bright green markings, beautiful flowers and sturdy, upright flower stems. Its characteristic elongated ovary also produces a relatively large number of seeds.
The variety is the result of a collaboration between Yanik Neff from Stein AR in Switzerland and Edgar Wills from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. It was the second plant to be named in the Painter's series, a group of Galanthus reginae-olgae with particularly attractive green markings on the outer petals and good vigour.
Galanthus reginae-olgae 'Painter's Brush' flowers clearly after the plants from the south of the Peloponnese peninsula, namely the Taygetos Mountains. All members of the Painter's group originate from seed from the island of Corfu. These plants often have large markings on the inner petals. The main flowering period is in November.
