'Squire Burroughs'

Galanthus hybr. ‘Squire Burroughs’

Galanthus 'Squire Burroughs' is a snowdrop hybrid found in a garden in the village of Ketton in Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The finder, Cliff Curtis, was a well-known snowdrop collector who sadly passed away in 2018. He will be remembered because of some well-known snowdrop cultivars such as 'Ketton', 'Peardrop' and of course 'Cliff Curtis'. Based on the flowers with their distinctive markings and especially the slightly twisted leaves, it is apparent that the cultivar 'Squire Burroughs' is a Galanthus gracilis hybrid. Presumably Galanthus plicatus is also involved in the cross. The flower shape of this snowdrop is elegant, with slightly pointed outer petals.
